The ground pounded with energy as the whole tribe connected with the earth, with mother Eywa. With each breath the ground shook and the people were in sync. "We call to the mother!" Kalxi yelled out to the people. "We call for strength! We call for peace! We call for you!" He yelled to the tree. He put his hands in the air feeling the energy come from it. He watched as the ground pounded with energy for sorrow was being banished. The people started singing and the energy faded as they rose and disestablished the bond. The people smiled and so did he. They then started separate conversations while he continued to talk to the mother Eywa.

Zarrin could still feel the pulse of Eywa echoing in her heart, her mind completely serene as the ceremony ended and the Tribe began to filter back to their new Hometree and away from the Tree of Souls and the Trees of Voices that were scattered around it. She cradled her arms around herself, the feathers and ornate beads of her necklace hanging down her chest and tickling her, feeling as gentle as light fingertips. She loved Eywa. She loved everything that she provided and everything that she made beautiful. Even the fearful Thanator held a vicious grace that she admired -- from afar, of course.
But what she found especially fascinating was Kalxi`. He was not the Tsahik. The spiritual leader for their Clan had been female for as long as she could remember, but Kalxi` was usually finding ways to help with this almost as an apprentice. She loved Eywa, yes, but somehow the male seemed more in tune with her than most of the People. And for this she admired him. She moved towards him and, though they were from the same generation, felt shy and childish of his understanding of the way their world.
"Kalxi`. Oel ngati kameie," she greeted him with a smile, touching her fingers to her forehead. "You lead the People well in rhythm," she complimented as she reached her hand out for the long strands of the Tree, watching as they began to glow under her touch and she proceeded to gently wrap the tendrils around her fingers and wrist. "Sometimes I wish I was as lucky as you.. To be so bonded with Eywa."
Her eyes finally moved up to the male as she pulled her hand away and returned her arms against the flat slope of her abdomen, her ears pushing forward towards him. "Irayo. You remind me always of how connected we are."

"Child we are all connected equally. Eywa never picks who is connected and who is not. Just because we don't realize in our heads that we are connected, it is written on our hearts." He placed his hand on the tree. "Here," He grabbed her hand and placed it on his while still on the tree. "Do you feel that? That is the heart beating, the heart of Eywa. Our names are written on it, stating we must return our heartbeat one day to fuel hers. We then travel through the trees, our spirit passes through the land that we love. I wont be in a branch that you wont, you wont be in a shrub that I wont. We are all equally connected." He bowed to her. "I see you."

Her eyes closed as he took her hand and placed it on top of his. In her mind she could feel the smooth texture of his skin, but also the wood of the tree as though her hand were in direct contact with it rather than his. And just like he'd told her, she could feel the minute vibrations in the flora throbbing in her ears like a heartbeat. She pulled her hand away as he bowed and she returned the gesture with a deep incline of her head as she seated herself amongst the gnarled roots of the sacred tree, her face turned up to it admiringly.
Her entire life she had been taught the things that Kalxi` repeated to her, and she lived by them with deep-seeded belief. Eywa did not love her People one over the other. She was the All Mother, and she cared for them as they cared for her. They were all in perfect sync, in balance, in a cycle. "What do you think it is like? To pass through the Eye of Eywa? To be with Her?" She wondered out loud.

"We will find out when she calls." he whispered. He connected his braid with the tree and spoke prayers and chants. He then had a vision. It was of the sky people coming down with sky fire and destroying the tree of souls. It was burning and Eywa was screaming for help but the people stood and cried. And on the ship was a demon, he recognized him as Theharrower. His eyes shot open and he whispered "no." He felt his limbs grow numb and his eyes grew as heavy as a thanator and he began to fall. "Sister, catch me if you will." he said and then passed out right there.

Zarrin's eyes drifted away from the male as he connected with Eywa, feeling the connection was sometimes a personal thing and she never wished to listen in to the personal prayers one sent up to the Mother. But then the word "No" caught her attention and her face snapped towards him, her pinna perked with curiosity. And then he was bidding her catch him. "Catch you...?" She repeated in confusion, giving a yelp as it registered and he began to collapse.
"Srung!" She yelled as she jumped up and her arms encircled his torso and her knees bent to support his weight so that she could gently lower the both of them down amongst the roots. "Srung!" She called again to the dispersing Na'vi, hoping at least one other would help her with their Brother. She didn't understand what had happened or what was wrong and a flame of panic and worry began to burn inside of her as she waited for assistance or for the male to awaken.
